Take up EPCSE to open the path to self-employment

Africa-Press – Eswatini. The Minister of Education and Training Lady Howard has urged pupils at school to enrol in the Eswatini Prevocational Certificate of Secondary Education (EPCSE) to help pave a path to self-employment in the future.

The EPCSE programme is now equivalent to the EGCSE after it was examined for the second time in 2022 under the accreditation agreement with Cambridge. Therefore, EPCSE graduates compete equally with EGCSE graduates for entry into tertiary institutions.

“However, there was a notable decline in the candidature taking up this programme for the year 2022 when compared to 2021,” said the Minister.

She said the candidature had decreased from 417 registered candidates in 2021 to only 183 in 2022. The number of pupils who eventually wrote this examination also declined from 369 in 2021 to 179 in 2022.

However, the overall pass rate for 2022 was 99.81 an increase from 98.3 in 2021.
