TEACHING BY DAY, HUSTLING WEEKENDS BOLDLY

Africa-Press – Eswatini. By day, Busisiwe Makhubu is a loving preschool teacher. By weekend, she’s a full-fledged entrepreneur juggling baking trays, beauty brushes, and balloon arches with the same care she gives her learners. At just 34 years old, this Hlathikhulu native is redefining what it means to hustle with heart.

“I love kids. They are soft-hearted and don’t hold grudges,” she says warmly. But that’s just one half of her story.

Her entrepreneurial roots run deep. From selling ligusha (okra) and sweets at school to baking without a stove—using firewood and a neighbour’s kitchen—her story is grounded in grit and inspired by the legacy of her hard-working mother.

“I started baking at home,” she shares. “We didn’t have a stove, so I used firewood and borrowed one when I could.”

In 2022, Makhubu graduated from Buhle Catering and made her business dreams official. Since then, she has built a vibrant brand offering event décor, catering, certificate lamination, makeup, baking, and nail artistry. Every weekend, she trades the classroom for client bookings, growing her side hustle into a thriving venture.

Her advice for aspiring entrepreneurs -Love your work. Have passion. Start small, pray about it, and give to others. That’s what sustains a business.”

What makes her story so compelling isn’t just the success—it’s the spirit behind it. From humble beginnings to a diversified business, she proves that with faith, consistency, and passion, dreams can flourish.
