Africa-Press – Eswatini. THOUSANDS of gospel music lovers braved the heavy rain and cold to attend the Yiba Nomusa Simakadze crossover which was held at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre on Saturday.
The crossover show was graced by a number of local and international acts such as Dr Rebecca Malope, who delivered an unforgettable performance.
Dr Malope literally owned the stage with beautiful performances that left the crowd wanting more.
She gave her fans an hour and 30 minutes of gospel music.
Malope was left shocked at how the crowd seemed to enjoy her songs released a few years ago.
She performed hit songs such as ‘Ngibe Muhle’, ‘Ukuzenza’ , ‘Isandla’ , ‘Angingedwa’, ‘Ngegazi Lemvana’ and ‘Isikhalo’ to mention a few.
As she was performing, she would from time to time interact with the fans as they danced along.
Her dance moves entertained the crowd as they would scream.
Dr Malope took a moment and shared that she would be turning 55 this year.
Speaking to Dr Malope during an interview, she said what kept her going through COVID-19 was God.
She said God gave her time to think of what she could do to generate income. She said she learned how to sew clothes, and that she now made her own designer dresses for the red carpet.
“Right now I’m focused on my singing, my grandchildren and my fans can expect more performances from me,” she said.
Gospel music lovers were ushered into the New Year by Bishop Dr Nash Shongwe’s sermon.
Shongwe mounted the stage before midnight where he shared the Word of God.
He took the crowd through the countdown spiritually, as he was praying and counting down to the New Year.
Bishop Shongwe advised the crowd to pray for unity and peace in the kingdom.
The atmosphere at the arena was filled with excitement.
Just from walking around the venue, you could witness the happiness within the gospel lovers and how they formed circles and danced, while performances continued on stage.
The show also saw a performance from Thina Zungu, who ushered attendants into a night of praise and worship.
Linda Dlamini gave a stunning performance as he rendered ‘ Konke Kuyangilungela’ , ‘Lona Umnyaka Wetfu’ and many more. The crowd enjoyed his performance as they would request songs they wanted to him to perform.
