THREE YOUNG MINDS CEMENT THEIR FUTURE WITH BLOCK BUSINESS

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Three young entrepreneurs from Ntjanini Celumusa Fakudze, Prince Mamba, and Bonginkosi Khumalo are making steady strides in the construction industry through their company, Bhekokwakhe / Brothers Block Yard. Established in 2024, the business produces and sells pave blocks, retaining wall blocks, and 6-inch and 9-inch concrete blocks.

The business began with just E5,000, borrowed from Celumusa’s mother. “When we began working, people started buying from us, and we were able to pay the money back to her,” he recalled. From this small but meaningful investment, the trio built their enterprise from the ground up.

The business is growing. The team recently bought a cow for the kukhonta ceremony so they can secure their own land, as they currently rent the space they use. They have also created jobs, employing four people and adding two more when there is extra work. “We prioritise hiring local people whenever possible because our goal is to create job opportunities in the community,” said Celumusa.

Fakudze also shared their mission is to grow big and create more employment opportunities in their area. He believes that expanding the business will not only improve their livelihoods but also help uplift others. Their long term goal is to establish a stable enterprise that makes a lasting difference in the community.

While the business continues to grow, transport remains a pressing challenge. “I’ve been in this business for 14 months, but I still rent transport. I’m hoping to get a truck that I can pay for in installments,” he explained. Another setback is public perception. Some people are still unfamiliar with the practical value of paving and retaining wall blocks. “Some would even say that is for the rich people, but no, that’s not the case,” he added.

Despite these challenges, the trio remain committed to their vision. With determination and teamwork, Bhekokwakhe / Brothers Block Yard is not only growing as a business it’s becoming a symbol of what local youth can achieve with focus and hard work.
