Eswatini’s rising artist Trace SD, born Thubelihle Skhondze from Piggs Peak, is gearing up to release his highly anticipated track “Incwadzi” featuring Nakekelo Mndzebele, popularly known as N-Kay Musician and Tanele Mndzebele, known by her stage name as Smally. The single, now scheduled for release on Friday, 26th September 2025, explores the realities of modern relationships and the importance of open communication between partners.
Trace SD explained that Incwadzi, which translates to “letter”, represents a message he wishes to share with someone he is dating. “Relationships nowadays are strange. At first you meet and talk often, but after some time it becomes harder to communicate,” he said. “Incwadzi is that letter to someone you care about, reminding them not to pretend they no longer need you when they actually do.”
Speaking about his choice of collaborators, Trace SD said N-Kay Musician and Smally were a natural fit. “N-Kay is my brother, one of the best artists in Eswatini, and Smally is like a sister. They are both well-known, so featuring them not only matched my style but also gave the song more recognition,” he explained.
The artist believes the track has already begun resonating with listeners even before its official release. “I feel like the song has already touched so many people, which is exactly what I wished for,” Trace said.
Though originally set for 19th September, the release was pushed to the 26th to accommodate the additions by N-Kay and Smally. Fans can also expect a visualizer, which Trace plans to promote heavily on TikTok, performances, and other platforms.
Looking back on his journey, Trace revealed he began experimenting with sounds like piano and qcom before being inspired by a friend’s unique style. That inspiration, combined with his dedication, has shaped the artist fans are now seeing emerge.
His message to fans is clear: “Tell the truth to your partner. Don’t hold back, focus on your relationship.”
