Africa-Press – Eswatini. He meritoriously served Their majesties and the nation, having dedicated more than half of his life to the police service.
Tsitsibala William Dlamini was born September 15, 1954 in Mahlangatsha, Mpolonjeni. He joined the Police Service in 1975 at the age of 21 and meticulously served the country with dedication and diligence for cumulative 48 years.
He joined the service when it was known as the Royal Swaziland Police Force, working his way up the different ranks which eventually led to the position of national commissioner of police.
After finishing training, he was posted to Pigg’s Peak Police station. he was later transferred to Mbabane, Matsapha airport, Mananga border, Police college and in 2001 he was posted to the police headquarters where he was stationed until he met his sudden demise.
He got his first promotion in 1978, when he was promoted from constable to the rank of sub-inspector and as the years passed, he moved up the ranks of management in the police service.
Dlamini had a Masters of Art in Police Studies degree from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom, which he obtained in 1994.
Dlamini was appointed to the position of National Commissioner of Police by His Majesty in August 2019.
While serving in the organisation, he led numerous programmes that were central in developing and transforming the police service, hence contributing massively to the upward trajectory of the organisation to what it is to date.
He was a loyal, hardworking, patriotic servant of Their Majesties, government and the nation. He commanded the police service with vigour and authority encouraging officers to remain resolute and stand firm in the fight against crime despite the trying and gloomy times that faced the REPS in recent times.
During the unprecedented events of the COVID-19 pandemic and the civil unrest, Dlamini jealously and gallantly guarded the nation’s safety and security.
These two events were the first of its kind in the Kingdom. together with his executive, he fearlessly led the organisation through these turbulent waters and did not cower or backout.
In 2022, the Royal Eswatini Police Service was faced with a bout of challenges especially the barbaric attacks on police officers which led to the deaths of more than five officers, however, Dlamini held firm and led the organisation towards greater heights and eventually a breakthrough in these cases as several arrests were made.
At the time of his death, Dlamini was tirelessly working on restoring and rebuilding the relationship between the police service and the public.
He assured the people of Eswatini of the REPS’s commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship with the public.
He was a humble servant of the country, having joined the organisation as a young man and went on to be an illustrious leader who will be forever remembered for his humanity and humility towards his juniors.
He will certainly be remembered for his famous quotes, “abaphumele eshashalazini, and “sitobabamba one by one” when he was addressing the criminal elements that were in the shadows and killing police officers in the name of democracy and these words indeed came to pass as arrests were made.
He has taken a bow on this world’s stage and been promoted to glory to revel in the presence of the Lord and maker.
May his selflessness and courage continue to be a beacon of hope for those who are remaining behind especially members of the police service as they continue to stand resolute and gallantly fightagainst crime in the country. Deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to Their Majesties, Cabinet, His Family, relatives and the Nation at large for this unequalled loss.
We trust that God will comfort us during this difficult and sorrowful time.
