Africa-Press – Eswatini. “The dangerous criminals deported to the tiny Southern African Kingdom of eSwatini have no place in the United States(US)”, says White House Spokesperson Abigail Jackson as quoted by a South African publication-TimesLive on Tuesday morning.
The report comes amid regional security concerns within the Southern African Development Community(SADC), ten(10) more dangerous criminals previously convicted of murder and rape were, in the early hours on Monday, dumped by the United States in eSwatini and, the dumping comes subsequent to a statement released by the eSwatini Government, confirming the arrival of the criminals.
But the United States President Donald Trump’s administration sent another third-country deportation flight to Eswatini despite objections from lawyers representing the migrants.
“Eswatini’s government said it received 10 third-country deportees, adding to an initial group of five people it received in July. A White House spokesperson confirmed the deportations, saying those removed were serious criminals. Neither government provided the nationalities of the deportees”, TimesLive reported.
On another note, United States based immigration Attorney Tin Thanh Nguyen said the 10 deportees included three(3) people from Vietnam, one from the Philippines, one from Cambodia and five others adding that, he was representing two(2) of those who arrived on Monday and two others previously sent to Eswatini, but was unable to speak with them amid restricted access by the Government.
“I cannot call them. I cannot email them. I cannot communicate through local counsel because the Eswatini government blocks all attorney access,” said the United States lawyer.
President Donald Trump aims to deport millions of immigrants who are in the US illegally after reaching an agreement with some African countries including eSwatini.
While the President Trump administration “has said some deportees’ home countries would not accept them”, some threatened with deportation to another Nation were eventually removed to their native countries.
White House Spokesperson Abigail Jackson said, those deported to Eswatini had been convicted of “heinous crimes”, including murder and rape.
“They do not belong in the US”, said the White Spokesperson.
The first five(5) immigrants deported to Eswatini this year were from Vietnam, Jamaica, Laos, Cuba and Yemen. One man, from Jamaica, has been repatriated, two others are expected to be repatriated soon, the eSwatini Government said.
