Africa-Press – Eswatini. South African award-winning musician and former Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi has met Her Majesty the Indlovukazi over the weekend.
The South African artist was thrilled to meet the Queen Mother as she took it to her social media and shared a lengthy message on how she was educated about the Eswatini culture.
“I had the honour and privilege of being allowed an audience with her majesty the Queen Mother this weekend. An experience I will cherish for the rest of my life.
“A moment of beauty, grace, honour and dignity, wrapped in a blanket of tender love and a deep knowledge of who we are as a Nguni, Bantu people. A ceremony she held and led in honour of her granddaughter Princess Temaswati as the matriarch of the Kingdom of Eswatini ,” she said and shared a couple of pictures of her with the Indlovukazi sharing a light moment.
“Inkhosikati LaNgangaza took over at her family homestead and continued to usher us through a tradition of events so intimate and beautiful I was in awe at every turn of events until we left at the early hours of the next morning. We sang and danced and laughed and love and most importantly learned,” she continued. She said she had been told that a few people get to be invited to witness such an intimate part of Eswatini culture.
“And I receive that. The magic and pure beauty of two families coming together in the name of love will live in me forever. We are powerful when we know and practices who we are,” read her post on Instagram.
This singer was also spotted at the Royal Villas on Saturday playing golf with the Number 43 KwaMagogo team as they were preparing for the annual dinner that was hosted in the evening. It was indeed a beautiful weekend for the singer.
Unathi is not new to Eswatini as she was last in the country in 2019 at the Number 43 KwaMagogo dinner where she was billed to perform.
