Africa-Press – Eswatini. Prime Minister, Russell Dlamini has reiterated the country’s commitment to working with the world to ensure a healthier planet for current and future generations.

The prime minister said this when reporting about his trip yesterday upon his return from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where he represented His Majesty King Mswati III and the nation at COP28.

The premier was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Pholile Shakantu and Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Jane Mkhonta-Simelane.

Dlamini said during their stay in Dubai they called on more support for developing countries towards building climate resistance.

“While delivering our national statement, we urged those countries that led the way in development and emitting to lead in mitigating the effects of climate change.

“ I also had the opportunity to address a high-level meeting on Tripling Renewable Energy organised by the International Renewable Energy Agency,” the prime minister stated.

He said they also had opportunities to engage in bilateral meetings with various leaders from partner countries and organisations, including King Letsie III of Lesotho, Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, Zambia President Hichilema Haikande, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland, and President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, among others.

The premier also stated that on Thursday evening, he had the opportunity to meet and engage with fellow Emaswati who attended the COP28 conference.

“Our message as Eswatini throughout the conference was clear, we remain committed to working with the world to ensure a healthier planet for current and future generations,” he stated.
