Africa-Press – Eswatini. Minister of Finance Neal Rijkenberg has clarified why this year’s national budgeting process deviated from established procedures, describing the changes as part of an evolving and responsive governance system.
Delivering his submission in Parliament during the quarterly performance report for the Prime Minister’s Office before the House of Senate, Rijkenberg addressed concerns surrounding the adjustments—offering a detailed account of how and why the process unfolded differently.
A Necessary Shift in Process
Rijkenberg explained that while the country has a well-defined budgeting framework, this year introduced unique developments that altered the traditional flow.
One of the key changes was the early involvement of the Prime Minister, who requested a detailed briefing on the budget before it reached Cabinet. This engagement led to adjustments in allocations to accommodate emerging priorities.
