Africa-Press – Eswatini. The online applications for the climate smart tunnel farming project is now opened.

The Woman Farmer Foundation (WFF) is an organization dedicated to empowering woman and youth in Eswatini through agriculture programs. The WFF runs a program that primarily caters for both young individuals and adults without any gender bias. This training program would be is held at Sidvokodvo, starting July 1.

It is a three month course that encompasses both practical and theoretical components, with farmers attending classes only twice a week. This initiative holds cohorts every quarter with the current 6th cohort now open for Exciting news for farmers interested in innovative climate smart tunnel farming.

The WFF is now accepting applications for their 6th cohort. This program offers valuable resources and training to farmers looking to enhance their farming practices.

Teresa Mdluli, the Communication officer at WFF she said that the participants in this program will receive specialized training in climate-smart tunnel farming techniques.

“This training will equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary to adapt to changing weather patterns and maximize their crop yields,” she said.

She also said the participants would get full knowledge on how to access to advanced farming technologies that can help streamline their farming operations and increase efficiency.

The training syllabus also include training on Agribusiness management, Agricultural insurance, Quality insurance, Marketing and financial management.

Another key aspect of this program is the networking opportunities it offers to farmers. Participants will have the chance to connect with other farmers in agriculture, share experiences, and learn from each other. This network of support and collaboration will be crucial in building a strong community of farmers who can support each other in their farming endeavours.

This program provides a comprehensive package of support to farmers, combining training, technology, mentorship and networking opportunities to empower them to succeed in the agricultural sector. This program aims to promote gender equality in agriculture and ensure the sustainability of farming practices for future generations.

The applications deadline is on the 21st of June.
