World Food Programme(WFP)donates R330,000.00 gadgets to eSwatini Government to enhance Agriculture Integrated Information System(AIIS)

Africa-Press – Eswatini. Jabulani Mabuza,the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives says the Agriculture Integrated Information System(AIIS)will assist eSwatini attain the agriculture related Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)by 2030.

Speaking during the launch of the Agriculture Integrated Information System (AIIS)this week,the Minister described the launch as a milestone in the overall Government policy aimed at creating a conducive environment for digitalisation and leveraging economic growth opportunities in Information and Technology.

The Minister further received gadgets worth three hundred and thirty thousand Rands(R330,000.00) from World Food Programme(WFP) Country Director Deepak Shah.

“This event is a key milestone in the overall Government policy aimed at creating a conducive environment for digitalisation and leveraging economic growth opportunities in Information and Technology. This launch is testament to the drive by Government to modernise delivery of public services,improve access to information and generate evidence based policies for inclusive and sustainable agriculture development.In the agriculture sector and related industries, the issue of access to information had long been identified as one of the bottlenecks to aggressive development of the sector.This is more-so due to the existence of many players along our value chains including farmers, input suppliers, processors, traders and other service providers,”said the Agriculture Minister as quoted by Government online platforms.

The equipment donated by the World Food Programme(WFP)includes three(3)laptop computers,two(2)desktop computers,fifty(50)tablet devices,two(2)printers,twenty-three(23)internet routers,sim cards,and extension cords.
