Africa-Press – Eswatini. Out of the quiet hills of Nhletjeni and Nkhungwini, a bold new sound is making waves. Meet Young Blaq, born Mpendulo Dludlu, the South African music scene’s latest sensation. With his breakout Extended Playlist (EP) Ghostyamafilimu, Young Blaq isn’t just entering the spotlight — he’s owning it.
The EP dropped like a hot potato, catching ears across the country with its mix of raw emotion, pulsing rhythms, and meaningful lyrics. “It’s music that connects,” Young Blaq says. “There’s vibe, there’s feeling, and there’s something real in every track.”
His sound defies easy labels. Fusing Amapiano, three-step, Hip Hop, and Kwaito, Young Blaq creates a musical lane that’s entirely his own. It’s the kind of blend that speaks to modern South African youth while still carrying echoes of the past.
“It all depends on the beat, the feeling in that moment, or what I see in the world — that’s where the music comes from,” he shares.
Every track on Ghostyamafilimu feels lived-in, drawn from real stories and personal highs and lows. His lyrics speak of struggle, resilience, and triumph, a reflection of his own journey — one marked by betrayal, setbacks, and powerful comebacks.
“People let me down,” he admits. “But those moments on stage? They make it all worth it.”
And he’s not alone. Young Blaq has already shared the mic with Dmxo, Blaq Jesus, Starring RSA, Wadijaja the Vocalist, and Suger. His next project — collaboration with Blaq Jesus and Starring RSA — is already in the works and promises to push creative boundaries even further.
Away from the studio, he enjoys kicking a football, watching movies, and cooking — simple joys that keep him grounded in a fast-moving world.
From rural roots to rising star, Young Blaq is proving that talent and heart are louder than any obstacle. If Ghostyamafilimu is only the beginning, the rest of South Africa — and beyond — better pay attention.
