The Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, Bongani Nzima, has reaffirmed government’s commitment to elevating Eswatini’s creative industry, highlighting the growing international recognition of local artists through strategic cultural exchanges and global platforms.

Speaking during a farewell bidding, Minister Nzima expressed gratitude to the Government of India, through the Indian Embassy, for fully sponsoring a cultural exchange programme that will see Eswatini artists gain international exposure. He described the partnership as a strong reflection of the enduring diplomatic relations between the two nations and a significant investment in the development of the arts sector.

At the centre of the programme is Fine Artist Honest Mhlanga, who is set to represent Eswatini abroad, while a second artist is in the final stages of completing documentation. The Minister noted that such opportunities are critical in showcasing the depth of Eswatini’s artistic talent and expanding its footprint on the global stage.

Nzima also applauded cultural ambassadors Gogo and Silwane for their remarkable participation at the recent African Influencers event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He commended their ability to carry the nation’s identity with dignity, stating that their presence demonstrated that Emaswati creatives can compete and excel internationally.

The Minister further reminded artists representing the country abroad to formally engage the Ministry and request the national flag prior to departure, stressing that it is not only a symbol of pride but also of sovereignty and identity. He added that government remains committed to supporting officially recognised international engagements, with structured assistance available through the Ministry.

He emphasised the importance of unity, discipline, and respect for national symbols as the creative sector continues to grow, urging artists to position Eswatini positively on the world stage.

Nzima concluded by thanking the Indian Embassy for its generous support and congratulating all artists who continue to raise the Eswatini flag high across the globe.
