Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) has ignited mass celebrations across Ethiopia’s capital, Addis Ababa.

In the early hours of this morning, hundreds of thousands of residents marched to Mesqel Square, jubilantly marking the historic achievement.

The GERD’s inauguration, led by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on Tuesday in the presence of dozens of African leaders and international dignitaries, was hailed as a defining moment in the nation’s modern history.

Under the unifying slogan “Together, We Have Overcome,” rally participants voiced their pride in Ethiopia’s collective triumph and the transformative promise of GERD.”

The completion of the Renaissance Dam shows us there is no plan we cannot achieve if we stand together in unity,” one resident said, capturing the sentiment of the crowd.

Following the completion of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Ethiopia has set a remarkable example for the African continent—establishing a new benchmark for regional integration.

At present, Ethiopia is supplying electricity to Djibouti, Kenya, and Sudan, with plans underway to extend power exports to Tanzania in the near future.
