Following her visit to the Victory of Adwa Memorial Museum in the afternoon, the prime minister underscored the importance of understanding history to prevent repeating past mistakes, stressing the significance of remembering events such as the Battle of Adwa and their influence on the present and future.

The triumph of Ethiopians over modern European forces is a landmark moment in the history of Ethiopia, Africa, and all marginalized peoples, she added.

According to her, the victory not only exemplifies the resilience and strength of the Ethiopian people but also symbolizes hope and motivation for marginalized communities worldwide.

Prime Minister Mottley further described the victory of Adwa as a strong narrative illustrating that perseverance in the face of adversity can result in success, serving as a message of resilience, unity, and the unwavering spirit of those who have faced oppression and injustice.

She reiterated the importance of unity and collaboration, which are essential for achieving success in any endeavor.

Reflecting on its impact, the prime minister noted that the victory significantly influenced the growth of Pan-Africanism in the Caribbean, and it also played a crucial role in advancing the black rights movement, addressing vital issues of equality and justice for individuals of African descent.
