Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The celebration of the world interfaith Harmony Week kicked off in Addis Ababa at the African Union Headquarters.
The event is being celebrated under the theme “The role of religious communities in Africa: advancing peace, human dignity, preservation of the environment, sustainable development and freedom of religion or belief”.
Various religious leaders, senior government officials from Ethiopia, and representative of the diplomatic community, among others are attending the celebration.
Addressing the celebration via zoom, President Sahlework Zewdie said Religions play indispensable role in fostering values such as integrity, peace, love, openness, and tolerance in any country.
Citing that the role of religions in Africa remains at the center, she said “We cannot underestimate the importance of religion in this world of ours.”
