Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Religious fathers have urged Christians to spend the Ethiopian Easter holiday together and by supporting each other.
Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) Patriarch Abune Mathias, Ethiopian Catholic Church Cardinal Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers Churches Secretary General Reverend Dereje Jemberu, and Ethiopian Evangelical Churches Fellowship President Pastor Tsadiku Abdo gave briefings in connection with the holiday to be celebrated tomorrow.
Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church Patriarch, Abune Mathias, extended best wishes to soldiers deployed to protect Ethiopia’s border, to Christians across the world, and to all Ethiopians.
Stating that Easter is the holiday that God revealed His love for humanity and taught humility, he stressed the need to pray for Ethiopia’s lasting peace and unity as well as helping the needy.
For the Patriarch, the holiday should be also celebrated by remembering the displaced persons, sharing, and solidarity.
Ethiopian Catholic Church Cardinal, Berhaneyesus Demerew Souraphiel, said Easter should be a day when we demonstrate our values of humility and respect.
The Cardinal noted that resurrection is the manifestation of God’s wonderful love, transformation of hatred into love, separation into unity, and sorrow into joy.
Similarly, Ethiopian Council of Gospel Believers Churches Secretary General, Reverend Dereje Jemberu, underscored the significance of showing the love of God by spending Easter holiday with the needy.
He further noted the significance of dialogue and reconciliation based on respect and understanding to ensure Ethiopia’s lasting peace and the unity of its people.
Ethiopian Evangelical Churches Fellowship President, Pastor Tsadiku Abdo, said what Jesus Christ had done from Hosanna to Easter are lessons of humility and love for humankind.
By remembering the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us, the president emphasized the need to celebrate the holiday by helping the needy and praying for the unity and lasting peace of Ethiopians.
