Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Members of the diplomatic community residing in Addis Ababa have expressed their admiration on the immense potential of Ethiopia’s cultural diplomacy.

At an energetic presentation of Ethiopia’s cultural heritage, filled with traditional music, dances, and costumes, diplomats assembled last night to watch a special show by the Kin Ethiopia Arts and Cultural Group.

The activity was organized for purposes of enhancing cultural diplomacy and availing diplomats and envoys of a rare opportunity to familiarize themselves with the nation’s vibrant traditions firsthand.

Well beyond the entertainment factor, the program was a project that sought to solidify global connections and orient the world’s attention to Ethiopia’s strength and culture.

The Kin Ethiopia group presented a colorful array of traditional dances, music, and artistic expressions from various cultures across the nation.

The diplomats were captivated by the rhythmic shoulder movements and the melodic tunes of traditional instruments.

Burundian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Willy Nyamitwe, expressed his gratitude for the invitation, sharing his deep appreciation for Ethiopian culture.

He noted that cultural diplomacy is essential for fostering connections between people and nations.

“Culture can bring people together,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of celebrating cultural values as a means to promote peace and understanding.

His enthusiasm for the performance was infectious, acknowledging the hard work and dedication of Ethiopians in presenting such a grand cultural show.

In this regard, the commitment of Ethiopia to leveraging its cultural assets would play a crucial role in enhancing its image on the global stage, he pointed out, noting the growing significance and potential of cultural diplomacy to foster mutual understanding and respect among nations.

Deputy Ambassador of Nigeria to Ethiopia, Maxy Ogbede, echoed similar sentiments, praising the rich cultural heritage shared across Africa.

He highlighted the potential for Ethiopian culture to be marketed globally, stating that the showcase was a testament to Africa’s diverse and vibrant traditions.

“What you’ve done tonight is showcasing Africa to the world,” he stated, reinforcing the idea that cultural exchanges can strengthen bonds between African nations.

Ogbede emphasized the importance of cultural events in promoting unity across Africa, expressing his desire for more collaborative cultural festivals.

Africa’s rich heritage should not be neglected, he underlined, underscoring the need for a pan-African cultural festival to celebrate and preserve the diverse culture of the continent.

On his part, Brigadier General Shariful Islam, the Bangladesh Military Attaché in Ethiopia, expressed his gratitude for the successful cultural show for members of the diplomatic community, noting the unique blend of cultures displayed through the performances.

He highlighted the importance of group performances, which foster a sense of community and collaboration.

This emphasis on unity resonated with many diplomats, he said, appreciating the varied cultural representations from Ethiopia’s different regions.

The Brigadier General also noted the potential for increased cultural exchanges between Ethiopia and Bangladesh, particularly following the inauguration of direct flights between Dhaka and Addis Ababa.

Such initiatives could deepen diplomatic relations and enhance people-to-people connections through cultural collaboration, he underlined.
