Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The Ethio-Belgium Business Forum has given us the opportunity to explore Ethiopia’s extensive investment prospects, Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Belgium, Luxembourg, Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific Commercial Director Thomas De Beule said.

The commercial director who is among the 14-member Belgian delegation is on a business tour in Ethiopia.

In an exclusive interview with ENA, De Beule said “I think we’ve done a milestone in the relationship between Ethiopia, Belgium and Luxembourg.”

The MoU signed will foster a stronger relationship between the three (Belgium, Luxembourg, Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific) strong economies, companies in agriculture and IT.

“We have namely two Ecoplast companies that focus on recycling and sustainable solutions for plastics. They make school materials from plastic waste; and they are looking to set up a manufacturing hub here in the future.”

During the forum, Ethiopian and Belgian businessmen operating in various investment sectors showcased their products and services.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed between the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations and the Belgian Chamber of Commerce, outlining areas of future collaboration.

De Beule stated that the forum has enabled them to witness Ethiopia’s rapid economic growth and its wide array of investment opportunities.

It also facilitated greater familiarity and experience sharing with Ethiopian businesspeople, he said.

According to him, the agreement will enhance and promote trade and investment opportunities between the countries.

Belgian investors have expressed interest in agriculture, renewable energy, information technology, and health sectors, among others.

Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations President, Zehara Mohammed, said the chamber will act as a bridge connecting businesses from both countries.

She further expressed confidence that Belgian investors will seize the investment opportunities in Ethiopia.
