Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The fifth meeting of the Ethiopian-Algerian Joint Ministerial Commission officially kicked off in Addis Ababa, marking a significant step in strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepen ties between the two nations.
The high-level meeting brought together Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, and his Algerian counterpart, Ahmed Attaf, along with senior government officials and diplomats from both countries.
The Joint Ministerial Commission has been active since April 12, 2025, conducting technical consultations aimed at enhancing the historic ties between Ethiopia and Algeria.
This year’s discussions focused on key areas of cooperation, including agriculture, health, trade and investment, culture and sports, innovation and technology, and the further strengthening of diplomatic relations.
Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf was welcomed at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hadera Abera, ahead of the opening session of the commission.
The meeting underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen collaboration and explore new opportunities for partnership across diverse sectors.
