Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The 8th Ethio-Czech Republic Political Consultation was held today in Prague, Czech Republic.

The Ethiopian delegation was led by State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, while the Czech Republic’s side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Jiří Kozák.

The discussion was attended by the Director for African Affairs, representatives from the Czech Development Agency, and officials from the Czech Trade and Economy Department.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Mesganu emphasized the strong diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and the Czech Republic, and underscored the need to elevate these historic ties to a higher level of comprehensive cooperation.

He noted that the increasing exchange of high-level government visits between Ethiopia and the Czech Republic is a testament to the growing diplomatic ties between the two countries.

The political consultation between the two countries aims to strengthen bilateral relations in trade, investment, tourism, education, technology transfer, and other economic sectors.

On the occasion Ethiopia’s Foreign Affairs State Minister underlined the importance of expanding these areas of collaboration.

Ambassador Mesganu also provided an overview of current national, regional, and international affairs.

The State Minister highlighted the ongoing economic reforms in Ethiopia and called on Czech Republic’s companies to seize the favorable trade and investment opportunities in the country.

Deputy Minister Jiří Kozák reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Ethiopia, emphasizing the tremendous opportunities that benefit both nations.

The consultation forum was recognized as a key platform to elevate bilateral ties and implement agreed commitments.

Both sides also agreed on the importance of continued engagement to advance mutual benefits.

It is to be recalled that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed paid an official visit to the Czech Republic in November 2023, while Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala and Deputy Prime Minister Marian Jurečka visited Ethiopia in November 2023 and December 2024 respectively.
