Ethiopia Signs 9.5 Million Euros Grant Agreement with Finland

Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Ethiopia signed a 9.5 million Euros grant agreement today with Finland, according to the Ministry of Finance.

The Agreement was signed by Semereta Sewasew, State Minister of Finance and Finland’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Sinikka Antila.

The purpose of the grant agreement is to implement the third phase of the Responsible and Innovative Land Administration (REILA-III) project.

The REILA-III project aims for better land tenure security, incentives, and knowledge for smallholder farmers to invest in climate-smart agriculture, and provide grounds in long-term for improved livelihoods, income generation and climate resilience, it was learned.

Furthermore, the third phase of Responsible and Innovative Land Administration will build on the previous phases of the project to strengthen the sustainability of the National Rural Land Administration and Information system and will further improve land governance and use of climate-smart agriculture practices.

Finland’s financial contribution to the previous and REILA II phases which started in 2011 amounts to more than 21 million Euro, it was indicated.
