Ethiopia, Vietnam Hold First Joint Political Consultation in Addis Ababa

Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The first Ethiopia-Vietnam Joint Political Consultation was held in Addis Ababa today.

In his opening remarks, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Mesganu Arga said Ethiopia’s ongoing economic reforms have created favorable investment opportunities, and called upon Vietnamese companies to invest in the country.

Ambassador Mesganu expressed Ethiopia’s interest to draw lessons out of Vietnam’s rapid industrial development experiences.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyen Minh Hang, who led the Vietnamese delegation, said that she closely follows Ethiopia’s rapid socio-economic development.

The Deputy Minister also expressed her country’s commitment to further strengthening its relations with Ethiopia.

The two sides have agreed during the political consultations to further strengthen their relations beyond bilateral relations through multilateral forums and South-South cooperation.

Ethiopia and Vietnam will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, according to Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The State Ministers have also agreed to hold the second political consultations next year.
