Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Ethiopian Airlines has inaugurated today an electric power substation that provides uninterrupted and reliable power.
During the inauguration ceremony, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mesfin Tassew said the power substation will have significant role in maintaining standard services delivery to Ethiopian.
The substation gets a total of 80 MW through two transformers receiving from the national grid of Kotebe and Kaliti, it was indicated.
“The whole objective of this facility is to enable the Ethiopian Airlines Group and the airport gets a reliable and uninterrupted power,” the CEO noted.
Until recently, the airlines has suffered a lot from continuous power interruption, Mesfin said and added “however, now it is connected to the national grid of Kotebe and Kaliti”
The civil and installation of the substation cost 9 million US dollar while Ethiopian has paid 60 million birr as a compensation and 40 million birr as corporate responsibility to Bole Sub-City, the CEO added.
