Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Ethiopian Muslims are celebrating the 1499th Maulid al-Nabi Holiday with various religious events across the nation.
Thousands of Muslim faithful and religious leaders gathered at the Grand Anwar Mosque in the capital Addis Ababa to observe the Maulid al-Nabi Holiday which marks the Birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
Muslims across the world, celebrate Mawlid al-Nabi to remember virtues of the prophet including the love, mercy, compassion, benevolence, generosity, and justice he had demonstrated for humanity.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed extended his goodwill wishes last night to Ethiopians on celebration of Mawlid.
The Premier said in his message that “Prophet Muhammad’s birthday is an occasion to reflect on one’s purpose,” adding that his birthday is a time that we contemplate the mission he was sent on and we ponder the work he accomplished and the positive impact he had on the world.”
Across the globe, including in Ethiopia, Mawlid al-Nabi, the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad, is celebrated on the 12th day of the month Rabi’ al-Awwal.
