Africa-Press – Ethiopia. South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit has honored today Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) Chief of Staff, Field Marshal Birhanu Jula, with the highest medal of the country.
A delegation led by the chief of staff is in Juba, South Sudan for a two-day official working visit, according to the ENDF’s Face-Book.
During the ceremony held at the South Sudan’s national palace, where the medal was bestowed upon Field Marshal Birhanu, it was stated that the reward is in appreciation of sacrifices paid by ENDF for the freedom and sovereignty of South Sudan.
Speaking at the occasion, President Salva Kiir Mayardit said Ethiopia has always remained a country where South Sudanese people got protection from those difficult times.
The president further acknowledged Ethiopia which paid the lives of thousands of her sons and daughters for his country’s national freedom.
He also said that even today, Ethiopia has consolidated its support in building the capacity of South Sudan’s army.
