Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh has stated that Ethiopia’s ongoing development serves as a model for the rest of Africa and is a source of prosperity for neighboring countries.

During his visit to Dire Dawa, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen noted key infrastructure projects, including the development of a major trade corridor, as critical to enhancing trade and investment opportunities in the region.

“These infrastructure improvements are not only intended to benefit local residents, but also to strengthen economic ties with neighboring countries,” he stated.

Temesgen also emphasized the government’s commitment to building public facilities such as libraries and sports centers, aiming to improve quality of life and create opportunities for future generations.

Acknowledging that Dire Dawa’s rich history has not always received the recognition it deserves, he reaffirmed the government’s dedication to development initiatives that preserve the city’s heritage while promoting modernization.

He noted that Ethiopia’s strong regional relationships are evident in the growing interest of ministers from neighboring countries who are eager to engage in Dire Dawa’s development.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Ethiopia’s growth is vital for the shared prosperity of the Horn of Africa.

He stressed that the country’s national development programs are already yielding tangible results and are increasingly viewed as a model across the continent.

Calling poverty the “main enemy of Ethiopia,” Temesgen underscored the importance of restoring peace and security, alongside infrastructure development, as essential pillars in the fight against poverty.

He added that the improving security situation is boosting public participation and investor confidence, both of which are crucial for sustained development.

As part of his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister also took part in a tree-planting initiative, supporting Ethiopia’s long-term efforts to combat climate change.
