Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The implementation of innovative ideas following the reforms significantly boosted job creation capacity—with a potential of creating jobs to over 4 million citizens per year, Labor and Skills Minister Muferihat Kamil said.

Muferihat who is member of the Prosperity Party Executive Committee elaborated those activities have been carried out and results in achievements in f job creation and skills development following the Party’s first regular congress in March 2022.

In her explanation, the minister mentioned that a 10-year plan was designed and implemented to address the growing demand of Ethiopians for jobs.

The goal of the 10-year plan is to create 2 million job opportunities annually and provide employment to 20 million citizens by the end of the plan.

The plan has been revised based on innovative ideas implemented following the reform, and this has increased the country’s job creation capacity.

New systems were introduced to build skill-based and creative economy, Muferihat noted this enabled the implementation of successful works in the sector.

According to Muferihat, through the proper implementation of Prosperity Party policy, a potential of creating over 4 million jobs annually has been established to leverage job creations in the country.

Opportunities have been created for Ethiopians to work in foreign companies, the minister said, adding to this effect, over 80,000 job opportunities have been created in a short period.

Technology-based approach is being applied to effectively manage foreign employments, she explained.

According to her, efforts are being made to ensure that citizens who are employed domestic works abroad have acquired the necessary skills and psychologically prepared.

A number of citizens going abroad for looking jobs are increasing due to the support and follow-up system established after the reform, she mentioned.

Meanwhile, efforts are also underway to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education Institutions (TVETs) increase their enrollment capacity.

TVETs have developed the capacity of receiving and training 3.5 million citizens annually through regular and short-term training programs, the minister stated.
