A half-day awareness raising forum focusing on the impact of media works on the changing world and geo-political alignment was held today.
The forum was organized by the Ethiopian News Agency and Foreign Affairs Institute, in collaboration with Horn Review Online Media.
The forum aimed at enabling media professionals to actively work on global and regional issues while understanding the ongoing global dynamics.
Speaking on the occasion, Institute of Foreign Affairs Deputy Director General, Bereket Diriba, emphasized the critical role of media in promoting the national interest of Ethiopia.
Understanding Ethiopia’s foreign policy and priorities is essential in this regard, he said, noting that platforms for constructive dialogue like today’s forum are highly beneficial.
According to him, the Institute of Foreign Affairs is committed to enhancing the capacity of media professionals to tackle challenges effectively.
Bereket finally stressed the benefit of the forum in improving the skills and knowledge of media experts through practical exchanges of ideas and expertise.
On his part, Ethiopian News Agency Digital Sector Deputy CEO, Fitsumeshet Shimelis reiterated that media professionals need to be equipped with knowledge of global and regional emerging issues to fulfill their duties effectively.
The deputy CEO stressed the need for prioritizing the national interest of Ethiopia in social, economic and political spheres.
Fitsumshet added that is why the Ethiopian News Agency, in collaboration with pertinent stakeholders, organized the forum aimed at enhancing the capacity of media professionals while understanding the global dynamic situation and geopolitical shifts.
The forum concluded by recognizing the powerful impact of communication platforms in boosting Ethiopia’s position in the global political and economic arenas.
Moreover, the forum reaffirmed the importance of strategic communication in advancing Ethiopia’s interests across various sectors, including social, economic, and political.
