March 19/2021(ENA) Ethiopia appreciates the staunch stand the Government of China took by upholding its non-interference policy in the affairs of any one country while other countries tried to dwell in the internal affairs of Ethiopia, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Dina Mufti said.
Some countries and international organizations have unjustly been trying to interfere in the internal affairs of Ethiopia and make unnecessary pressure on the country based on fake information being disseminated by the cliques of TPLF across the world.
However, the Government of China has affirmed its principled support to Ethiopia when some member of the UN Security Council pushed for interference in the national affairs of the country, the spokesperson told ENA.
“They understand our objective of reality; they understand the reality on the ground. That is what happened recently. With the law enforcement operation in the northern part of our country, they understood us,” he added.
The spokesperson stated that the Chinese stand of non-interference in the internal affairs of Ethiopia goes beyond understanding the situation.
In this manner, the Government of China clearly showed its non interference policy in internal affairs of a country.
“When others pushed for uncalled for resolutions against Ethiopia in the UN Security Council forum, the Chinese were on our side. They were not only on our side, they were also on the side of truth; they were on the side of reality, the reality that was an internal affair of Ethiopia. The Ethiopian sovereignty should be protected. So, the Chinese were ready and honest by openly protecting our sovereignty. They refrained from interfering in our internal affairs unlike others who mistakenly did it.”
The spokesperson added that the act of China during the meetings were a testimony to the fact that Chinese are friends of Ethiopia in time of need.
Dina pointed out that the Chinese support to Ethiopia is also demonstrated in the economic development and Chinese are by the side of Ethiopian prosperity.
“Chinese are involved in the economic development of the nation. We do have industrial villages in various parts of the country. Some of them are built by Chinese fund. We have Exim Bank which gives us loan for our development; and Chinese support is incredible, high and valuable as well,” he elaborated.
The spokesperson further underlined that Ethiopia is interested to advance the diplomatic, economic and multi-sectoral relationship with China into the next higher level.
