Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The ongoing activities being underway to modernize judicial institutions in Ethiopia will be further intensified with a view to serve the people with resilience and kindness, Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Tiruneh remarked.

The Amhara Regional State Supreme Court digitalization projects that modernize the region’s judicial system were inaugurated today.

Speaking on the occasion, the deputy premier said the justice system transformation is among the several reforms being implemented by the reformist government across the country.

According to him, the newly inaugurated Amhara Regional State Supreme Court digitalization projects are the outcomes of the reform underway.

Renovation and a digitally supported system has been introduced into the institution in order to create a conducive environment at the court, he added.

“This reform-driven government is undertaking multiple efforts at once. We are reforming public service and administration. We are strengthening our judicial system. We are moving forward on several fronts because lasting progress demands a comprehensive approach.”

The reform efforts in the judiciary have yielded tangible results, the Deputy PM noted, adding that a national justice transformation plan is being implemented as there are still many unresolved justice service issues.

The newly inaugurated projects are part of the national plan and in line with the objective reality of the region, he stated.

The projects are foundation for reform works, leadership commitment and perseverance as well as building the community’s trust in courts.

The DPM said the digitalization project is of great importance to the society and the development of the country as it allows users to monitor their affairs from their respective locations and reduces time, cost, and inconvenience.

Temesgen emphasized the significance of the Supreme Court’s reform efforts to strengthen the justice system in the region, adding that they also inspire all to serve the people humanely and to transform institutions with determination.

Strong nation-state is unthinkable without strong institutions, he noted, pointing out that the implementation of the justice transformation plan, service improvement, and institution building works initiated at the federal and regional levels will continue to be strengthened.

Finally, he stressed the need to work hard to ensure the satisfaction of clients by ensuring a just, swift, free, and credible judicial system.

“Ethiopia is now walking that path. A new path. One that builds instead of breaks. One that honors the past but is not trapped by it.”
