Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) on its 9th regular meeting today has approved the nomination of Melatework Hailu as the Chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia.
It is to be recalled that Birtukan Mideksa, who was the chairperson of the National Election Board of Ethiopia, resigned from her position voluntary in June 2023.
The house approved the appointment of the new chairperson by a majority vote with one abstention.
Accordingly, Melatework Hailu appeared before the House and sworn in to carry out her responsibilities with loyalty and dedication.
Melatwork was previously served as the head of the office of the Ethiopian Election Board.
Meanwhile, the House has also approved the appointment of CEOs for the Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation and Ethiopian Press Agency, Getnet Tadesse and Mesafint Tefera respectively.
