Africa-Press – Ethiopia. The productive meeting of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz is pivotal in cementing the existing strong relations of the two countries, Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie said.
PM Abiy held discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on various issues ahead of the “G20 Compact with Africa (CwA) Summit.”
The two sides have exchanged views on areas of bilateral cooperation, domestic and regional issues, according to the office of the Prime Minister.
Highlighting the discussion held between the two leaders on bilateral and regional issues, Ambassador Taye said on bilateral affairs, the leaders conferred on the means to strengthen trade and investment ties.
The two leaders also discussed the activities undertaken by the government to ensure lasting peace in Ethiopia and the challenges as well, Taye noted.
Stating that debt suspension was part of their discussion, Foreign Policy Advisor said they also discussed the role of Ethiopia in ensuring peace and security in the Eastern Africa region.
The ambassador affirmed that the meeting of the two leaders has further cemented the existing strong relation of Ethiopia and Germany.
The discussion has affirmed the continuation of the existing strong relations of the two countries, that is based on mutual respect and understanding, he added.
