PM Abiy Reviews Addis Ababa Riverside Project

Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed this afternoon, following the Prosperity Party’s Central Council meetings, they collectively reviewed the progress of the Addis Ababa Riverside Project.

Healthy, well-maintained riversides in cities not only protect ecosystems and water quality but also create vibrant public spaces that enhance community well-being and strengthen urban resilience, the Prime Minister shared on social media pages.

“This afternoon, following the Prosperity Party’s Central Council meetings, we collectively reviewed the progress of the Addis Ababa Riverside Project. The initiative in its current phase spans 21.5 km in length running across five sub-cities,” the Prime underscored.

He added it features walkways, bike lanes, public plazas, parking areas, children’s playgrounds, shops, and amphitheaters.

The objective of this grand undertaking by the city includes stopping river pollution, reducing the city’s vulnerability to flooding, expanding public infrastructure, increasing green spaces, and creating jobs, the Premier further elaborated.

“ Once complete, it will not only protect our environment but also give Addis Ababa a vibrant, resilient riverside that energizes the city’s economy and quality of life,” he said.
