Africa-Press – Ethiopia. Addis Ababa, February 25, 2025 (POA)—The ruling Prosperity Party (PP) has briefed the diplomatic community and international partners on the decisions and resolutions passed by the second congress of the party.
PP Public and International Relations Division Head, Bikila Hurisa, and PP International Relations Director, Nebiyu Sehul made the briefing today.
Presenting the decisions and resolutions of the congress, Nebiyu said the briefing demonstrates the transparency of the party and its desire to get feedback from stakeholders and partners so as to strengthen its partnership with them.
According to him, the congress held from January 31 to February 2, 2025 in Addis Ababa exemplified inclusivity and was impactful.
Regarding the decisions and the resolutions of the congress, Nebiyu said it passed 10 major decisions and resolutions.
Presenting the ten-point decisions and resolutions, he pointed out the determination of PP to exert unceasing effort to build a robust party, promote the grand narrative of nationalism, consolidate nation building, build effective peace, and capacity of the judiciary.
Moreover, accelerating economic development, promoting social prosperity, and ensuring civil service reform were among the resolutions, the director stated.
Nebiyu further elaborated on the activities carried out by the party.
Among the issues reviewed during the congress were issues concerning strengthening the party through capacity building, internal democracy and unity, expanding the political landscape, ensuring sovereignty and lasting peace, revitalizing the economy and addressing structural challenges as well as fostering transformation, he elaborated
Acknowledging that enough endeavors have been done in this regard, the director added that those efforts would continue in the coming years.
The congress also assessed the current national and international situation and examined challenges faced and lessons learned, Nebiyu pointed out.
Following the presentation of the director, Bikila Hurisa, Public and International Relations Division Head responded to questions raised by the diplomatic community and international partners.
Ethiopia’s diplomatic approach is principled and based on the national interest, he affirmed.
The head further noted that the national interest of Ethiopia is well articulated in the foreign policy program of the country; thus promoting mutual interest, collaboration and principled diplomacy which is well articulated in the party program.
The second congress of the ruling Prosperity Party, the largest political party in Africa with 15.7 million members, was attended by 15 international political parties and members of diplomatic corps.
