Seedy Njie Urges Unity Among NPP Allied Parties Ahead of 2026 Presidential Election

Africa-Press – Gambia. Seedy S.K. Njie, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the National People’s Party (NPP) and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, on Sunday called for greater unity among the governing coalition’s allied parties as the country prepares for the 2026 presidential election.

Speaking after a meeting convened by President Adama Barrow with coalition partners, Mr. Njie described the gathering as a critical step in charting a strategic course for the upcoming polls.

“The objective, among other things, is to strategize and wave forward for 2026,” Mr. Njie said. “One key outcome of the meeting is togetherness and oneness. From henceforth, we must work together as allied partner parties, and additionally, NPP being the party that is leading the alliance, we are grateful to all of them because the president appreciated the partnership, and it has grown from strength to strength, and it has been very genuine.”

Mr. Njie praised the coalition’s longevity, noting that alliances of this nature rarely endure for as long as eight years elsewhere. He emphasized the need to not only maintain unity at the national level but also to extend cooperation across regions, constituencies, wards, and villages.

“But we want that also to trickle down not only at the national level but regional constituents to ward and village level; that’s the objective of the president. For all of us to take ownership of what we fought for, this is ours; it belongs to all of us,” he said.

The Deputy Speaker expressed gratitude to the coalition partners for their steadfast support and described the meeting as an opportunity to solidify efforts and marshal resources toward a common objective.

“We have appreciated each and every party that supported, and then the meeting was for us to solidify our efforts and galvanize more energy resources to ensure that as we move into 2026, we are there with a common objective of delivering the job,” he said.

Mr. Njie further asserted that Gambians across the country recognize the coalition’s role in managing state affairs, underscoring the administration’s dedication to fulfilling its responsibilities. “So we want that to continue; we want to call on all our supporters and on all our parties to continue the relationship, and of course we have a common objective of enhancing the economic well-being of every Gambian,” he said. “And we are doing whatever it takes to get that done.”
