Amadou Kah: I’M here to Oust Barrow, not Join him

Africa-Press – Gambia. Amadou Kah, the leader of the newly launched Tabax Rewmi Movement, has made it clear that he has no intention of aligning himself with President Adama Barrow. Instead, Kah emphasized that his primary mission is to unseat the president through democratic means.

“I have come to remove President Barrow and that is my conviction, and I am very strong on that objective and I will do whatever it takes dramatically to make sure I remove President Barrow. So my objective is very clear to me, and of course again, my beliefs,” Kah declared.

When asked about the chance of forming a political alliance with Barrow, Kah was unequivocal: there is no possibility of him joining forces with the president.

He criticized the Barrow administration for failing to deliver governance that might have convinced him to collaborate.

“The Barrow administration has failed to put in place what would have gotten me on their side, and this is a clear, very strong battle against corruption. A very strong battle against corruption, a very strong agenda and program that they try to make is sold to all Gambians; unite all Gambians to stick through whatever the case is. To be very strong to fight for a program and agenda for the country,” he said.

Kah emphasized that his decision to enter politics was driven by a desire to offer Gambians a genuine alternative.

“I am very strong with my objective, and that is to provide an option to the Gambian people that we are here, and we are here to be different, right, and we would stick to that,” he said.

He also reflected on what he sees as a missed opportunity by President Barrow to establish a lasting legacy similar to that of former President Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara.

“President Barrow had that opportunity to be remembered in this country forever when he took office in 2016, and that is, if he had been there, stand very strongly on his promise, whatever the case is,” he said.

He also accused President Barrow of using his time in office to accumulate personal wealth, claiming the president’s financial status has significantly changed since taking power.

“He was not as rich as he is today; everybody knows that, because before 2016, I have never seen him dish out probably as much money as he does today,” he said.

When asked about his chances in the upcoming 2026 elections, Kah expressed strong confidence in his prospects.

“My chances are very high, and in fact, probably using scientific data we have seen of recent research published by Cepras that 37% of Gambians are undecided, and by that report, I think about 27% might have decided for the president or would vote for the president and 17% for the UDP,” he explained.

He added that, “That tells you the majority of Gambians are not satisfied with what is actually prevailing on the ground, so chances are very high that we are going to remove the government and also in a brand new idea and philosophy for the Gambia,” he said.
