Africa-Press – Gambia. Mohammed BS Jallow, the Vice President of the Republic of The Gambia, held a high-level meeting with His Excellency El Moctar Ould Djay, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in Nouakchott, focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
The meeting was held on Thursday at the Mauritanian capital.
The engagement marks a renewed commitment by both countries to deepen bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, education, infrastructure, and regional security.
Following the closed-door session between the two leaders, the meeting was expanded to include the Foreign Ministers and Ambassadors of both nations, who engaged in meaningful discussions on matters of mutual interest and benefit, according to the office of the Vice President.
In his keynote remarks, VP Jallow reaffirmed the historic ties of friendship, solidarity, and cooperation that unite the two nations.
“Our common values, shared vision for sustainable development, and desire for regional stability provide a strong foundation to further strengthen our collaboration,” VP Jallow noted.
He emphasized that dialogue offered a valuable platform to review progress, confront shared challenges, and build stronger, more resilient partnerships—especially in the face of global issues such as climate change, food insecurity, migration, and economic pressures.
“This meeting reflects a renewed spirit of unity and regional cooperation between The Gambia and Mauritania, paving the way for lasting development and shared prosperity,” he outlined.
