Gambia Condemns Israeli Airstrikes on Qatar

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Government of The Gambia has strongly condemned the recent Israeli airstrikes on the State of Qatar, describing the attacks as a violation of international law and a threat to regional peace and stability.

In a statement issued through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad, the government expressed deep concern over the strikes, which it said resulted in the loss of lives, destruction of property, and heightened insecurity in the Gulf region.

“The Gambia views this attack as a violation of international law, the sovereignty of the State of Qatar, and the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations. Such actions within a sovereign state by another sovereign state undermine peace and security in the Middle East and beyond,” the statement read.

The Gambia government further expressed solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar, reaffirming support for the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

“The Gambia stands firmly with Qatar in safeguarding its sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity,” the statement added.

The government also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council and relevant regional bodies, to take urgent and decisive action to prevent further escalation, protect civilians, and hold those responsible accountable.

Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful diplomacy, The Gambia stressed the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and respect for international norms as the foundation for stability in the Middle East.

“The Gambia reaffirms its unwavering commitment to dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful coexistence among nations and remains committed to global and regional efforts aimed at preserving peace, security, and stability in the Middle East region,” the statement concluded.
