Africa-Press – Gambia. Protocol officer says her signature forged to obtain diplomatic passport By Bruce Asemota

Ndey Awa Cham, a protocol officer at the Office of the President, has told the Banjul High Court that her signature was forged to obtain a diplomatic passport for one Bakary Susso.

Ms Cham made this disclosure yesterday before Justice Ebrima Jaiteh while giving evidence in the trial of the state against Mansa Sumareh a former driver of President Barrow, and Ebrima Sanneh a protocol officer at the ministry of foreign affairs.

She recalled that in 2019 while she was at MDI, she received a call from the police headquarters requesting her presence there. Upon arrival, she said she met the two accused persons and was interrogated by the police who instructed her to write a statement. She said she had no “working or administrative relations” with either Sumareh or Sanneh.

She said at the police station she was shown a document which bore her name and signature and that after tests, the police confirmed her signature was a forgery. She said she had never met Bakary Susso, the applicant for the diplomatic passport. Hearing continues on 7th March.
