2023 LG Elections: GFA, GMC Have No Aspiring Councilor Candidates For KM

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia For All (GFA) and Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) have no aspiring councilor candidates for the Kanifing Municipality (KM) in the 2023 Local Government Elections.

The IEC scheduled Saturday for candidates of the GFA and GMC to file their credentials across the IEC offices in the country.

However, for the Kanifing Municipality (KM) both parties failed to present any candidates for the upcoming elections.

Mr. Seedia B.Sillah who was stepping in for the Independent Electoral Commission’s Returning Officer in the Kanifing Municipality, Joseph Colley, told the press that the two parties did not pick any forms for nomination.

Mr. Sillah said even though the scheduled parties (GFA and GMC) did not show up, the day is reserved for them until closing time.

Press, contacted Gambia For All’s National Chief Mobilizer, Bubacarr S. Fadera and he confirmed to this medium that his party is not contesting in any of the wards in the Kanifing Municipality.

Mr. Fadera, however, told our reporter his party is contesting in one ward in the Brikama Administrative Area.

This medium tried to contact the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) but the efforts went futile.
