Police in Bansang have arrested four suspects in connection with the deaths of 15 cattle belonging to one Jarga Baldeh of Madina Giki village in the Upper Fulladou District of CRR South, The Point has been reliably informed.
Three of the suspects at the time of gathering the report had been detained at the Bansang Police Station as investigation into the matter continues. The first suspect who was arrested by police in connection with matter has been granted police bail.
A source that spoke to our reporter on the condition of anonymity said the arrested people included one Bakary Baldeh, Malick Baldeh and Demba Baldeh. “I can tell you that all the three suspects have been cautioned by the police in Bansang. Apparently, all of them denied participating in the killings of the 15 cattle.”
“I can confirm to you that four people were arrested in connection with the matter. However, one Yerro Sey, commonly known as Taftaf has been granted bail on the grounds that the police did not want to detain him beyond the 72 hours,” Kanteh, the secretary general of the cattle association in CRR said.
Meanwhile, Jarga Baldeh, who claimed to be the owner of the cattle said, he had clear information that the people that were responsible for the death of his cattle wanted him dead.
The three arrested people, he said, are his younger brothers. “But I can tell you that they have nothing to do with the killing of these cattle. There is no way they can kill 15 heads of cattle belonging to all of us.”
Mr. Baldeh called on the government to help them with personnel of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU), saying that the people who killed his cattle can do worst things in the village.
“Each of the cattle that were killed could cost approximately D30, 000 if we were to sell them. Three among the 15 cattle have delivered recently and others were pregnant,” he said.
