Africa-Press – Gambia. 4H The Gambia, a local NGO based in Farafenni, held an induction training for its newly elected Board of Directors. The training, which was held in the North Bank Region on Saturday, focused on clarifying the roles and functions of the board to promote good governance and accountability.

The event was attended by board members, staff, and representatives from 4H youth clubs in the North Bank and Central River Regions.

Alieu Ceesay, the National Programme Director for 4H The Gambia, highlighted the organization’s commitment to the comprehensive development of its board and staff.He emphasized that the induction would help the new board understand their governance roles, the organization’s management structure, and their responsibilities.

Ceesay stated that 4H The Gambia aims to empower youth to be honest, hardworking, and healthy while advocating for core values such as honesty, transparency, and accountability.

He added that the organization is fully dedicated to youth development, including their participation and protection from gender-based violence and environmental harm.

He, therefore, thanked the outgoing board for their support over the past two years.

Sarjo O. Mbye, the lead facilitator from One Vision Youth Association, underscored the importance of building the capacity of board members in governance and effective communication to maintain accountability.
