Africa-Press – Gambia. On Sunday 4th December 2022 A Jallow Charitable Foundation was launched at the Insight Training Centre in Sinchu Alhagie, Kombo North District.
A Jallow Charitable Foundation is a benevolent and non-profitable organization established by a group of enthusiastic Gambians to support vulnerable people and communities in The Gambia. It focuses on supporting sick people and supporting students from poor backgrounds to pay their tuition fees.
In his welcoming remark, Salif Ceesay, head of Sinchu Alhagie village commended the founders for establishing a such charitable organization. He urged the residents of Sinchu Alhagie to support the founder for the sustainability of the organization, saying it could benefit anyone.
“Let’s help the founders and help ourselves so that the organization is sustained,” he said.
YeroSowe, co-founder of the foundation said during the tense period of the COVID- 19 pandemic the foundation has supported vulnerable homes to reduce the impact of the pandemic on them.
He added that the foundation has been helping pupils from poor backgrounds by providing them with learning materials.
“We also engage in supporting patients who cannot afford to pay their medical bills. We often go with patients to health facilities to pay their medical bills such as medication,” he said.
In his launching statement, Hon. Kebba Jallow, National Assembly member for Jarra Central described the foundation as essential in the society, saying over the past years it has spent much money on helping vulnerable Gambians.
“I can bear witness that the foundation has supported several people. It has supported a woman at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital,” he said.
However, he added that there is a greater need for all and sundry to empower the foundation so that it continues to help vulnerable ones in society.
Aboulie Jallow, CEO of A Jallow Foundation said “The foundation has supported students of The Gambia College who could not pay their school fees. We have sponsored 53 students in the Gambia,” he noted.
