Airport bank ‘thief’ pleads guilty

Africa-Press – Gambia. The man who was accused of breaking into the Trust Bank branch at the Banjul International Airport yesterday pleaded guilty to all the three-count charge against him-breaking, committing felony, stealing and punishment for malicious injuries in general.

The accused Wagan Senghore, 25, appeared before principal magistrate Isatou Dabo at the Brikama court and when the charges were read, he pleaded guilty to all.

According to the bill of indictment filed by ASP Buteh Sawaneh, Wagan Senghore on or about 6th of December at the Banjul airport broke and entered into the office of Trust Bank, committing felony therein; to wit stealing.

Count two accused Mr Senghore of stealing cash amounting to five hundred and ninety-nine thousand seven hundred dalas(D599,700.00) property of Trust Bank.

Count three further alleged that Wagan Senghore wilfully and unlawfully damaged a safe (strongbox) valued at fifty-thousand-dalasi, property of Trust Bank of The Gambia. However, the presiding magistrate Dabo adjourned the case to 29 December for the police prosecutors to present their facts.
