Africa-Press – Gambia. African Missions Global (AMG) has taken a major step toward transforming education in The Gambia with the launch of its AI-powered Digital Leap learning application.

The new platform aims to bridge learning gaps, boost digital literacy, and provide students with interactive, accessible, and personalized learning tools.

Speaking at the launch, Muhammed B.S. Jallow, Vice President and Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, underscored the importance of integrating artificial intelligence into the education system. He recalled that when schools closed on 17 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the sector was compelled to adopt new methods of teaching and learning. He noted that the emergence of AI resonated strongly with Gambians during that period, as technology became essential for continuity in education.

The Vice President further stated that The Gambia had to be innovative to keep students engaged remotely during the pandemic, adding that the ministry has since embraced advances in digital learning.

The Vice President also stressed that the mission of the project aligns with the government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which aims to prepare young Gambians for a technology-driven future.

Dr. Fola Ojuola, the technical lead for the AMG Taf Softwire application, said the initiative is designed to empower students, educators, and communities through technology and mentorship. He added that AMG seeks to close the gap between education and opportunity.

“When students are disconnected from opportunities that align with their talents, they lose the chance to make meaningful impact in their communities. AMG has come to change that narrative,” Dr. Ojuola said.

Dr. Sesan Akinnawo, Regional Coordinator of AMG West Coast 3, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to building and transforming communities. He reaffirmed AMG’s unwavering support to ensure that the innovation benefits as many Gambians as possible.

With the launch of the AI-powered Digital Leap application, AMG is not only advancing educational technology but also contributing to a future where Gambian learners can thrive in an increasingly digital world.
