Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambian Bakary Gassama will not be retained in the list of referees who will officiate the matches during the next edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
According to well-placed sources, the Gambian international referee will be excluded from this competition by decision of the governing body of African football.
Become the sworn enemy of a whole people, Bakary Gassama will not make a comeback in the North African country.Last March, the latter was decried for having distorted the result of the match which opposed the « Fennecs » to the « Indomitable Lions » in the qualifying play-offs at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
As a reminder, the FAF has already lodged a complaint against the Gambian referee with the arbitration commission of the International Football Federation (FIFA).
This recourse ultimately proved to be useless and the body responsible for managing world football judged the arbitration service to be « no more than correct ».
43 years old, Bakary Gassama will be forced to end his career in 2024, as he will reach the deadline set by FIFA.
