Barrow Congratulates Teachers’ Credit Union for Impact

Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow received the leadership of Gambia Teachers’ Union Cooperative Credit Union (GTUCCU) on a courtesy visit to the State House in Banjul.

The purpose of the meeting was to extensively inform the President on the Union’s ongoing key development projects in the country and to invite him to inaugurate their newly-buit headquarters in Bakoteh, Kanifing Municipality.

As part of their efforts in complementing the government’s development programmes, Mr. Dawda Kujabi, the CEO of the Union, highlighted that in partnership with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, their services and products cover the welfare of teachers and other GTUCCU members in the areas of affordable housing, transport, food security, entrepreneurship and environmental protection.

In his remarks, President Barrow congratulated the GTUCCU for positively impacting the lives of teachers and other beneficiaries of their transformative packages. “I am so impressed by what you are doing and you need support to do more.” H.E. told the GTUCCU leadership and further encouraged them to uphold unity stating, “when we are united, we are stronger.”

The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Habibatou Drammeh the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education.
