Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow has described himself as the foundation of The Gambia’s development, emphasizing his commitment to leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.
Speaking on November 12, 2025, in Daru Mbayen, Upper Saloum District, Central River Region (CRR), as part of his ongoing “Meet the People Tour,” President Barrow highlighted the importance of unity among Gambians. He urged residents to work together with a shared purpose to achieve national goals.
“For every nation, there comes a leader who lays the foundation for its development. For The Gambia, I consider myself that leader,” he said.
During the meeting, the president outlined plans for infrastructural development, including the construction of 500 kilometers of roads under his government and an additional 200 kilometers under the agriculture sector, many of which will benefit the local communities.
“Most of your roads are included in these plans. Know that we have never rested when it comes to work, and we will continue to deliver,” he stated.
President Barrow also reassured residents that the advancements made over his tenure are only the beginning. He pledged that services and infrastructure previously lacking over the past 52 years will be addressed under his administration.
“The electricity, water, schools, and hospitals provided so far are just the start; the real work is yet to come,” he said, reiterating his commitment to ensuring that the entire country will be electrified by 2026. He noted that while some had doubted his promise, the progress achieved to date demonstrates his administration’s resolve.
The president, accompanied by his ministers, is conducting a nationwide provincial tour, a constitutionally mandated initiative for sitting presidents to undertake at least twice a year.
